Hello! My name is Allysa and I am a senior at Penn State Brandywine. I study Psychology with a Business focus. With this degree I plan to one day become an HR manager. When I am not studying or doing school work I am usually working, spending time with family and friends, or watching Netflix.

I am a full time student but work a few part time jobs. I am a cake decorator at Giant, a barista at Starbucks, and a spa receptionist at ACAC. I am from West Chester and went to Shanahan for high school. I currently am living in borough of West Chester and enjoy going out into town when I have the time. I love food and eating out. Although I love trying new things, my roommates and I often enjoy going out for Mexican food or having a pizza night in.

I have a younger brother, two parents, and two adorable dogs. My brother is a sophomore at Temple so I make as many trips as I can to Philly to visit. When I am not planning trips to the city, I am often at home or working. Although always being busy can be fun, I do enjoy the nights where I can stay home and watch T.V., bake, paint, or just relax.

Established in 1967, Penn State Brandywine has grown to become a University known for its diverseness and uniqueness. In 1966 Eric A. Walker approved of having a campus in Delaware County, just 20 miles outside of the great city of Philadelphia. 90 acres of land in Middletown Township was provided along with $1.2 million for construction of the first building. The campus opened in January 1967 with John D. Vairo as the director. The campus, at the time, had 236 students and 11 full-time faculty members. Penn State Brandywine campus attracts most of its students from Delaware and Chester counties along with parts of Montgomery County, and Philadelphia. Since its opening in 1966, more than 100,000 students have earned a degree or have started their studies in higher education.

Penn State Brandywine originally operated in Chester until December of 1970. Once the Main Building was completed in Middletown Township, they moved to the newly built campus. By 1979 the campus grew to have a library and learning center and by 1988, the commons and athletics center was established. The fourth building to be added onto the campus was a technology-based classroom building, which opened in 1998.

Currently, our campus still has all of this and more. We have added tennis courts, maintenance building, the Ethel Sergent Clark Smith Memorial Tennis Center, athletic fields, parking, and even a garden. As of this past year, construction has begun for yet another building. This building will provide dorms for those students who wish to live on campus. Penn State Brandywine is now 112 acres and has a student body size of approximately 1,500 students. Faculty has built its way up from 11 full-time employees when first established, to 133. In addition to the on campus activities provided such as speakers, clubs, and games, Penn State Brandywine offers many off campus activities as well. These activities include internships, undergraduate research, and international study programs. Penn State Brandywine constantly strives to make this campus one in which students can benefit and further challenge themselves. They are focused on setting their students up to make their future brighter. Needless to say, Penn State Brandywine has grown and continues to grow each year. New ideas are constantly rising to make Penn State Brandywine even better than before.

As a senior student here at Penn State Brandywine, I have really enjoyed my time here. The professors here constantly go above and beyond to help their students and truly want them to succeed. Each semester here I learn something new, not only in the classroom, but also about our campus. Penn State Brandywine is constantly changing for the better and provides us with so much technology and resources to better our education. For example, this semester I was assigned to do a podcast in one of my classes. For this, I was able to use the resources our campus provided as well as a room with a microphone to record myself.
